Week 9

Review

Snooze-y start to the week. Keep getting to bed quite late, even on Tuesday when it wasn’t necessary (YouTube). Fixing the snooze issue could be the main goal. Also need to start thinking about revision/project time, since Reinforcement Learning exam is creeping up.

Week 8

Review

Cold showers going well. Snoozing getting reduced too. Morning gym is a tall order; sleep earlier or it is impossible. Feeling at a loose end sometimes, should take that time to meditate, journal, learn or develop personal projects (website, photo, code tidy-up and release, KT, etc.), but it’s mentally hard to start something new that I know I’ll only have a short time to work on.

Was ill/incredibly tired over the weekend, didn’t get round to doing this review and setting goals for week 9. Didn’t hit 3x kickboxing because of that, snoozed

Goal

Main goal: Stop snoozing, cut down on electronics after 21:45 (21:45 so in time for 22:00 sharp). Get back on track RE: snoozing is important.

Week 7

Review

Cold showers and snoozing took a hit these week. Although allowing lie-ins after dance nights, late nights are becoming more frequent: either staying up talking to people or YouTube (possibly because less time during the days now to ‘relax’) so I log on late at night. A good goal for next week is to restrict late phone/YouTube usage and go to sleep or read instead. Swedish learning went really well, spent 6-7 hours but with tandem it is fun. Dance make me really happy, and noticed a strong correlation between feeling much more well mentally after gym/kickboxing (i.e. anxiety or headaches go away). Lost kickboxing Saturday morning due to after-work until 3:30am, but definitely worth the socialising.

Goal

Main goal: Learn more Swedish, bring back good morning routine by allowing no gym after dance nights.

Results

  • Getting pussy about cold showers.
  • Snoozing in a lot this week, this can be solved by solving cold showers
  • Gym just in the evening, Wednesday & Thursday
  • Swedish 67 hours
  • Kickboxing 3 times: Tuesday, Sunday, Sunday (need to go Sunday then GG)

Week 6

Review

This week hit a pivotal point in terms of physical capability. Got really tired just adding in dance (i.e. past midnight bedtimes) twice a week. Late nights on those nights encouraged late nights on other nights and morning was affected pretty badly. Still managed to kickbox and cold shower though.

Note to self: Morning gym could also be morning walk/run, anything to get me outside. Gym is good, but for future reference if there is no gym, still get outside.

Goal

Main goal: Bring old routines back: No snooze, cold shower, gym, kickboxing, and add dance.

Results

Have set up a Google form and spreadsheet to track morning routine.

  • First two days off to a bad start. Snoozed a lot.
  • Cold showers still on.
  • Went to the gym: Monday evening
  • Went kickboxing: Tuesday and Thursday evening,
  • Went dancing: Monday and Wednesday.
  • Missed tracking on 9th, but Kris was here.

Week 5

Summary

Second week into drive for habit stacking, and it went really well. Feeling really healthy and good.

Goal

Main goal: Bring kickboxing into routine without losing gym.

Results

  • Went kickboxing 3 times this week: Tuesday, Friday, Sunday.
  • Went to the gym 4 times: Monday, Wednesday, Friday morning, Saturday afternoon.
  • I think showers and no snooze went well this week, need to start tracking.

Week 4

Summary

First week, went really well after Monday/Tuesday. Happy to be getting fitter/stronger.

Goal

Main goal: Bring early morning cold showers and gym into routine.

Results

Monday was an off day on all fronts: No early wake up, gym or kickboxing. I believe I just gamed all evening and into the night.

  • First week that really got the cold shower and no snooze goals going. Very good progress. No tracking of these so can’t say for sure how many days were successful, but results were positive.
  • Went to the gym 5 times: Tuesday - Saturday every day.
  • Went kickboxing 3 times this week: Thursday, Friday, Sunday.
